Welcome and thank you for visiting the
Pfc. Richard L. Vanover Veterans Village website.
“Here at the Vanover Veterans Village, we pride ourselves in maintaining and abetting senior veterans in need. The Veterans Village is named after my father who was a World War II and Korean War Veteran and severly wounded on Labor Day of 1950. Pfc. Richard L. Vanover recieved a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his action on that day.
Please feel free to explore our website and contact us for any questions you may have regarding our non-profit organization.”
- John L. Vanover, Founder and Executive Director
The organizational purpose of the Veterans Village has been established in order to provide single senior veterans male and female an alternative to an assisted living facility at an income-based fee.
The Veterans Village is committed to providing senior veterans a dignified place to call home in a family atmosphere. Three meals a day are provided, and transportation will be available for appointments and recreational activities. The organization will rely heavily on private and corporate donations, fund-raisers and in-kind gifts and will not seek any government funding. The Veterans Village will strive to be self-sustaining by raising beef, poultry, eggs, meat and maintaining a community garden. The Veterans Village will initially include one duplex cabin and dining facility available by mid-summer 2012. Other cabins will be added as funding becomes available.
We are in the beginning stages and are now a viable 501(c)(3) organization in compliance with IRS Code and required to file a form 990 yearly. Donations may be tax deductible in compliance with IRS Publication 526.
